HRIS Specialist, Total Rewards
Summary:
The HRIS Specialist for Total Rewards serves as the technical business partner to the Compensation and Benefits teams, owning the system architecture, configuration, and data management for compensation, benefits, payroll, and absence modules. This role translates business requirements into system solutions, ensures data accuracy for pay and benefits processes, and provides expert consultation on system capabilities and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
System Architecture & Configuration (40%)
Configure and maintain compensation structures including salary bands, grades, and job profiles
Set up and manage compensation review processes for merit increases, bonuses, and equity programs
Configure benefits plans, enrollment periods, and eligibility rules
Maintain absence management configuration including leave plans and accrual rules
Support payroll configuration for deductions, earnings codes, and tax setups
Configure and maintain benefit carrier integrations for medical, dental, vision, and 401k providers
Business Process Management (25%)
Configure and maintain business processes for compensation changes, promotions, and adjustments
Manage benefits enrollment and life event business process configurations including open enrollment and life events
Set up leave request and approval workflows
Orchestrate annual open enrollment processes end-to-end
Design and implement annual compensation planning processes
Data Management & Validation (20%)
Execute compensation data loads for annual increases, market adjustments, and bonus payments
Validate benefits enrollment data and reconcile with carrier files
Perform pre- and post-payroll data validation to ensure accuracy
Audit compensation against established salary structures and maintain minimum wage compliance
Reconcile leave balances and accruals
Business Partnership (15%)
Partner with Compensation team on annual salary structure reviews and market pricing
Support Benefits team on plan design changes and carrier transitions
Consult on pay equity analysis reporting requirements
Translate business requirements into system configuration specifications
Train Compensation and Benefits teams on system capabilities and best practices
Qualifications
3+ years of HRIS experience with focus on compensation and/or benefits administration
Hands-on experience configuring Workday Benefits and Advanced Compensation modules
Strong understanding of compensation structures, compensation survey, job matching and pay practices
Knowledge of benefits administration including health & welfare and retirement plans
Understanding of payroll processes and data requirements
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
Exceptional attention to detail with commitment to data accuracy
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Workday Compensation and/or Benefits Pro certification
Experience with annual compensation planning cycles
Knowledge of benefit carrier file formats and reconciliation processes
Understanding of ACA compliance and reporting
Experience with COBRA integration administration
